Digital Spy caught up with the actor, best known for playing Bones in the 2009 Star Trek reboot, for a chat about his latest turn as the iconic law enforcer in Mega City One. Watch the video to hear him discussing the art of chin-acting, meeting Dredd co-creator John Wagner and if there are any plans for further movies...
"It was a moist experience," Urban revealed about his filming experiences under the helmet. "We were shooting in Cape Town in the middle of summer."
Explaining about how he landed the coveted role, previously tackled by Sylvester Stallone in the notorious 1995 adaptation, Urban explained: "I was a huge fan of Judge Dredd when I was a teenager. In fact it was one of the only comics that I did read. So naturally I was really interested when I heard they'd rebooted it.
"I read the script, wonderfully written by Alex Garland," he added, "and discovered it was a real action-packed, character-driven movie about a day in the life of Judge Dredd as he puts his rookie Anderson through her paces to see whether she's got what it takes to become a Judge."
Dredd 3D opens in UK cinemas on September 7 and September 21 in the US.
