Movies Interview

'Taken 2' director Olivier Megaton on the action sequel - video

By
Olivier Megaton has discussed the experience of directing Taken 2.

The Colombiana director said that he was reluctant to make another sequel after Transporter 3, but was persuaded after Luc Besson brought him the script.

"I agreed because when I read the script, I found a challenge," Megaton told Digital Spy. "There were a lot of things to do with the actors, with the action, with the story."

He went on to discuss his star Liam Neeson's new image as an action star.

"Liam is a huge actor, and he's been a huge actor for a long time, so he doesn't change anything [in an action role]," he said. "The only thing is that he's 60 and he has to take care about how he's doing his scenes."

"Taken brought him a new rock 'n' roll image, and why not?" Megaton continued. "I like to have somebody normal [as a hero], somebody I can touch, somebody I can believe I could pass in the street."
