I honestly think that the movie was ......ummm.....fantabuluosly fun(that's the word!) Mr Ben just because you lack understanding of genuine comedy doesn't mean you can criticize so harshly The film was more than just a romantic comedy It made me forget everything around me I was watching the movie at midnight and believe me my entire house couldn't sleep because of the movie.......because I was laughing out so loud, ofcourse!! And the chemistry between the leading pair was awesome and Fisher WAS cute Ther's so much more i can write but anyway Toodles With love Sophie

This review is harsh! I thought this film was amazing

i liked it :) lol. i found it very amusing. could think of worse ways to spend a day than going to the cinema to see this. i thought it was ok. it definitely wasnt a bad movie. not amazing either. this is just based on your opinion Ben, what about everyone else? i did laugh through it. in all fairness i'd give it 3/5.

I really enjoyed the book (I've only read the first one, but I plan to read the rest), and I have to say; the movie was plain awful! And not just because it didn't follow the book plot, but it was just generally cringeworthy to watch. The supposedly "funny" bits really didn't make me laugh (I think I laughed a couple of times from the sheer idiocy of some parts), and I really didn't enjoy it!

A really heart-warming story, with a good lesson to learn from it! Isla is fantastic and Hugh is just so good looking and dreamy- they are perfect! Its your regular Romcom happy feelings film - I don't understand all the negativatey surrounding it as though it was meant to be a thought provoking intellectual masterpiece! Its a chick flick and very good at being exactly that.

I wasn't looking forward to this film particularly, but thought it was absolutely delightful. Haven't read the book, so can't comment there, but as a frothy romcom, it did the job beautifully. Thought it was very funny - and even empathised with Rebecca. Trailers didn't match up to what a great film this turned out to be.

Saw this the other day and loved it! Yes, it's not as good as the books but for a girly chick flick it's great!

Based on the trailer, I really don't want to see it. I absolutely adore the books, but it looks like they've totally f****d up the characters. Isla portrays Rebecca like some ditz! And Suze is all wrong. I hope no-one judges the amazing books from this movie :(

I wondered why this fim is being so heavily promoted.Perhaps because it's rubbish?Isla Fisher is not leading lady material.

This film is brilliant anyone who is a fan of the book or has watched it knows that it is really funny. Clearly Ben this is not your sort of film but you need to lighten up, you can't lie it's enjoyable. I give it 5/5. :-)

It's brilliant that the only ones who marked it low (other than the reviewer) are people that haven't seen it. Geez, Sophie/Wends, grow a spine and make your own choices. Personally, I have seen it, and yes, it's not the best film ever made, but what do you expect!? Even so, it's a pleasant way to spend a cold February afternoon.

I loved the film, it was the first film in ages that have actually been excited to see. if your a big fan of the books then dont go expecting it to be a copy from the book, its not there are alot of changes from the books but i still really enjoyed it. The review was really harsh i thought, if you dont enjoy that type of film dont go see it maybe when writing reviews it would be a good idea to ask the people around you in the cinema if they enjoyed it! I think the result would be a more fair review.

I wouldn't trust this reviewer! He gave Frost/Nixon five stars, and I don't think anyone who loves that so much is rally going to get much out of Confessions of a Shopoholic. Not to say this looked amazing, but I thought Frost Nixon was painfully mediocre.

Someone's grumpy! I watched the film thinking it was gonna be awful and commercially embaressing, the trailer for me was hideous. 3 Rihanna songs and scenes cut to make it look like a mix of Sex & The City, Devil Wears Prada, and any female rom com. It looked really typical and mashed together for the sake of it, but the film was brilliant. It was such a simple piece of film, but I thought it was cleverly done, even knocking back some clichés. I don't think you looked deeper than the surface, and got annoyed by the girly simplicity of it. When really it was made really well, and for me, didn't ever seem to drag on. I was surprised, and I was a cynic. Simple happy films aren't always terrible, they're good for when you don't want to use your cleverly sharp witted mind. :P

to be honest, my friend just brought me the first book in the series from the states knowing me to be a book/movie addict .. the book is wonderful, but I can't agree more with Wends; I was bothered by the fact that they based the movie in America, and the trailers are just wrong ... again, excellent and funny book to read ..

What a pathetic review. You'll never make a real living Benny boy.
Sophie, Leicester on February 18th, 2009
I was looking forward to this film as I am a huge fan of the books. However, none of the actors depict the actual characters even slightly and, judging by the trailer, the story is extremely distorted. This is one film I refuse to see.
Wends, London on February 18th, 2009
I haven't seen the film, but I can fully believe what is written in this review, judging by how rubbish the trailers are. The books are excellent, and the fact that they chose the actress they did, and based it in America, just tells me that it'll be wrong from the start.

Erm wow...a little harsh maybe Ben? From all the trailers the film looks fantastic, and I love the books, I hope it's better than the review says!
Edward, Swansea on February 18th, 2009
This reviewed needs to lighten up. It's a romcom and fun. And it does exactly what it says on the tin.
