amazing film, critics think differently to others.

The scene stretch limo outran the volcano was only beaten by the scene where the beat up old camper van did the same. Pure floss, definitely not for me

It has moments that are enjoyable, so long as you ditch any knowledge of science or geography before you go in. At least 90% is utter crap scientifically or common sense wise. Good examples, 3 seperate runways are miraculously undamaged until the hero's plane takes off, fancy that!

Wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. I was expecting it to be too 'sciencey' for me but i actually enjoyed it. It was funny, the special effects were nice although one part did look a little odd.

This has to be one of the worst films I have ever seen and I contemplated asking for my money back afterwards.

One of the worst films I have ever seen, and I say that with a heavy heart. I was expecting great things, which I shouldn't have done, as the reviews were pretty accurate. The special effects are, of course, brilliant, but they are marred by a terrible script with no real storyline to be found. The last hour seemed to go on forever, and people were leaving the cinema long before the end. I stayed til the bitter end, but I wish I hadn't as the very end was particularly woeful. Sad times.

I think the movie was wonderful.

If you go into the cinema knowing what to expect - an over-the-top cliched disaster movie - then you'll enjoy this. Perhaps a little too long, though. Day After Tomorrow was pants. This is good fun.

FROM THE PREVIEWS THE SPECIAL EFFECTS AND ALL LOOKS GOOD, LOOKS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE A EXCELLENT MOVIE. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO AND SEE IT.

i dont think it was crap i think it was a good light hearted film which was enjoyable to watch. it is a bit o a cliche film but i still really enjoyed it

I thought it was really good! It did have the cliché happy ending though, and it would have been more like "the end of the world" if the world had actually ended. In the final scene, the entire Earth should have exploded! :)

Some of the other reviewers being negative about this film were spot on - and I should have listened. Am gutted!! I was REALLY looking forward to this film. The SPFX, when you see them, are mostly very good. But they are interspersed with LONG periods of BORING "broken family relationship" rubbish which gets too yawn-inducing (the usual cutesy-pie American kids torn between their divorced parents). After the first 120 minutes, myself and others around me were checking their watches to see what time it was and were all obviously thinking, when is this going to end? Yes, the film is a visual spectacle and there are some stunning set-pieces, but all the soul-searching moralising rubbish inbetween has been done countless number of times (and better!) in other similar films. And its too long!! A good 30 minute snip would have done wonders. Someone wrote in the papers that this would be the disaster film to end all disaster films. Well I am sorry, 2012 falls woefully short of that target and we are going to have to wait for another day for someone else to have another go. Never mind the towering tsunamis in the film, most of it was as dull as stagnant ditch water.

Fantastic film. A bit far fetched, but if you can get past that, the special effects are the best I have ever seen. Completely spectacular. If you are ever going to watch a movie on the big screen, this has to be it.

I agree with the review. It's so full of disaster movie clichés that it puts The Day After Tomorrow to shame. To make a disaster movie you need: - Father/son/family breakdown from the film's opening. - Some crazy person who knows everything, but no one believes him until it's too late - Ordinary people who seem to come across the most extraordinary things and somehow end up saving the day with their bare hands - Lots and lots and lots of special effects - A government conspiracy - The USA being the epicentre of the disaster - A love interest where both parties survive This film has them all. Despite Britain hardly appearing in the film, it was nice of the Queen to make an appearance with her three corgis! Stereotype? Never! The cinema goers were laughing at this point. Now, it's not designed to be scientifically accurate but I found it slightly irritating that the mobile networks still managed to remain active despite the world falling apart! It's a very pretty film graphically with lots of realistic effects (and seemingly from a massive budget) but that's where the pleasure ends.

Utter, utter bobbins, but surprisingly entertaining bobbins. The thing I found funniest was the audience sitting through all the make-believe science without uttering a sound, and then laughing when the characters say the poles have reversed - quite possibly the only thing in the entire movie which is actually scientifically accurate. Go figure...

Wow that was bad

im sure it will be fairly enjoyable, but it does look set to be the cheesiest of cheesy movies, infact the trailer alone is the cheesiest thing ive ever seen. i dont really see the need for another 'day after tomorrow'

You don't think it's possible for the magnetic poles to reverse, huh? Hm, yeah, I guess physics is a little too much for your pea brain to comprehend.

I believe it was Armageddon that the south park boys originally wanted to remake with puppets. 2012 is a terrible, awful movie, but the effects are jaw dropping.

Can't wait to see the movie, premiere is today here in Germany. And James, Emmerich already said this will be it. *2012* is the 'the mother of all disaster movies'; he won't make another one. Please readers go and see the film for yourself and judge.

Dumb as a bag of hammers, but still entertaining disaster porn - you watch some of the action scenes open-mouthed at both the spectacle and the ludicrousness of it, prime suspect being the segment where the apocalypse is evaded in a limo by driving THROUGH a collapsing building. Absolutely loopy but a great six-pack movie... I do wonder how Emmerich is going to top this one though.
