I watched this film expecting the worst but i was very wrong! Amazing acting from the two main roles. A great film well worth the watch and in my opinion, a masterpiece.

Best film I've ever seen. Everyone should see this film. Should have done better at the Oscars as it truly deserved it. Excellent!!

I couldn't sleep last night after watching this movie, cant stop the lump in my throat. Ledger and Gyllenhall were superb. This film really should have won over Crash which I also watched. It did not even come close for me when it came to the emotions I felt while watching it.

Wonderful, wonderful film. Recommend it for anyine to see, not ony homosexuals but also hetrosexuals as well. A 'western', no, A 'love story' yes. Beautifully acted out by both Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal (Both should have won Oscars for thier performance. Can't wait for April 4 when it comes out on DVD. I dare say I will have tears again. Not Ashamed to say so.

I watched the film yesterday, i still have a lump in my throat while writing this. I can't stop thinking about the film. It is a stunning story of painful love, it really makes you think. The ending leaves you feeling lost and pondering about its characters. Extremely deep, excellent film. Health and Jake my hat goes off to them, they did excellently. A really moving film that I cant get out of my head, go and see it.

An absolutely stunning film. Breathtaking is the only way to describe it. Amazing performances by Ledger, Gyllenhaal and Williams! Ang Lee does yet another brilliant and superb masterpiece

I give it a 20/20. I thought it was superb and I thought it had a lot to do with gay men's sexuality and also it was a bit sad about his wife. Because they're gay thay should lead a normal life. We are human after all we should be free to do what we want to do we are proud of being gay and we should show it to people who aren't gay we're ok and not freaks.

As a 58 year old hetrosexual - the movie brought back tears that dried up 25 years ago- it was probly the most emotional movie i've ever watched - i'm not a movie buff- just a worned out cowboy

JAKE GYLLENHAAL IS AMAZING, HE MADE THIS STORY FOR ME AND MOST PEOPLE.IT BROKE MY HEART....

I was very dissapointed in this film. I expected an exciting thriller and instead got what could be otherwise known as a gay porn film. The love story was not impressive and I think it was told very badly. The actors weren't bad but I still think it was a huge let-down!

Well I am young and really enjoyed it, but this film wasn't what I thought it would be. I expected it to match the love story 'The Notebook' in the love stakes. It didn't, but I was not let down, it was amazing. I was glad to see how it was played, it had a theme that made you think about the choices and turns you make in life. Ennis wasted his chances, where as Jack was not bothered and was free roaming and was taken where his heart guided him, Ennis was into doing right by work and earning. Michelle Williams played a great role of Alma, it was great to see how much feeling, and how she managed to cope so long with knowing of what Jack and Ennis were really up to. I think Heath played a blinding role as Ennis and put a great deal of emotion into it. Jake was amazing as Jack...made me cry. .. .. .. thanks Ang Lee you deserve much credit for that amazing movie, I've already watched it more than once! Worth the money too. :)

I'm gay. The movie has a "gay theme" so I should like it, right? Wrong! The movie is terrible and the acting wooden. Despite its billing, if anyone thinks this is a gay love story forget it. The "first contact" scene is brutal, bordering on rape. I cringed when I saw it. The movie certainly does nothing for the gay cause as far as I'm concerned. Yes it breaks new ground in that it's a movie with a gay thread running through it. But that's where it ends. There is no way this is Oscar material. Very disappointed.

This movie haunts me. It is so deep with incredible life messages for everyone. I have seen Brokeback Mountain 3 times and sobbed each time for long after the movie ended. Each time I begin crying earlier in the movie. I wish that everyone would see this film and focus on the meaning rather than just seeing it as a gay cowboy film. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal were superb. As was the entire cast. They so clearly brought Jack and Ennis to life for me.

Watched in Peru away from home - and cried myself to sleep in my hotel. Just returned home to my man and we watched it together - we both cried! Luckily, unlike Mr Twist and co we are having our civil partnership this Friday - thank God we are not back in the 60's......

THE FILM WAS AN INTERESTING STORY ABOUT BISEXUAL SHEPHERDS. ANY ONE WHO HAS SERVED IN THE MILATARY KNOWS HOW EASY IT CAN BE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PERSON YOU WORK AND SERVE WITH. I KNOW BECAUSE I DID. WE LIVE TOGETHER NOW.

This film is breathtaking. Well acted and directed the music of the film is beautiful. I am lost to describe how good this film is it really is a must see and you will be thinking about it for days to come.
Fiona, London on January 31st, 2006
A brilliant film, everything from the performances, the script, diretion to the beautiful camera work is pitch perfect. I can't remember a film affecting me as much, it just stays with you, haunts you.
Jo, Glasgow on January 31st, 2006
It was terrible. Very slow to begin with, very graphic, no story whatsoever. I thought it was an awful film and not to be recommended.
Charlie, Edinburgh on January 28th, 2006
I was not sure what to expect when I bought my ticket at the Odeon Dundee. I was surrounded by mostly young women and girls and straight couples. The story was a little slow to start and the first sex scene caused a little 'shifting in their seats' from the guys. The film is really passionate and beautiful. Towards the end, there were tears all around me - people pretending to have something in their eye - but real tears! Now remember, THIS WAS IN DUNDEE! How things have moved on for the better in my short lifetime. Please go and see this film.

About time there was depiction of a huge segment of the gay community, so to speak. Too often gay males are shown as stereotypical, effeminate and in roles to laugh at or roles they into sickness, hate etc. (though hate is what causes these relationships and shame marriages). Excellent movie.

I've heard people say this movie is slow. I didn't get that. It was at the pace of their lives and it could have been longer for me. This is the best movie that I have seen in years. It will stay with for a long time. No forever. Everything in this movie was perfect, acting, directing & cinematography and especially the music. Every aspect of this movie haunts me.

If you're after some hot cowboy action, you'll be disappointed. If you're after a sugary sweet love story, you'll be disappointed. What you will get is a (surprisingly) violent (at times) tale of love never fulfilled that certainly warrants more than one viewing. Through some surprising plot twists that draws gasps from the audience you'll be left realising how lucky so many of us are to have a soul mate. And watch out for a two second shot and a short line that mean nothing at the time, but come together with stunning realisation at the end of the film. Truly a landmark film. Go and see it.

A wonderful scenic film with a suttle music score yet a powerful storyline that has you gripped and torn as the story unfolds. This is the most heart moving film I have seen in a very long time and well deserving of many awards in the months to come.
Peter, London on January 17th, 2006
An outstanding film in all respects: Ledger's portrayal of Ennis is a revelation.
John, Bolton on January 16th, 2006
I am so in agreement with the comments on this forum! I thought it was bizarre that the film actually was in my thoughts for days afterwards. The bittersweet nature and heartbreaking ending left me feeling almost upset for days. This movie just shows how love can transcend boundaries regardless of sexual orientation. It was a beautiful portrayal of a relationship which meant more than anything to them, and yet couldn't be taken further than it was. Some of the scenes were particularly moving. Fantastic performances and most definitely Oscar worthy.
Andrew Conrad, New Jersey on January 16th, 2006
This is a gripping film, and compelling. The story is credible and artfully paced, bringing the audience along. It is about desire and the tragic consequences of a life lived to hide and deny its force. It's a fabulous film, and both Ennis (Ledger) and Jack (Gyllenhaal) deliver stellar performances.
Jay, Cardiff, Wales on January 14th, 2006
Inspiring! A film that truely reflected the emotions involved, irrespective of your sexual orientation. This drama left my heart pounding, as a true updated Romeo and Juliet love unfolded in front of me. It touched chords that no other film has, and I will remember it for that always. I challenge anyone to go and see it and not come away moved by the film's very depth, or the depth of memories it awakes in you.

I think it is fanastic, it make me cry in the cinema..it is very romantics..bless me! i cant wait to buy the dvd.. the feeling i got while i watched, it was mixed feeling!.. agree with the review!..
Solitude,London England on January 14th, 2006
A good film but widely overhyped i'm afraid. I think some of the comments by other reviewers on this page owe more to the media frenzy surrounding this film rather than the actual film itself it's either that or everyone here was watching a totally different film to me. The performances are good but certainly not great or oscar worthy and some important moments that were in the book are not in the film, other scenes are added that add nothing to the film like the whole scene between Jack and his father in law which was a total waste of time.
Paul, Wrexham on January 14th, 2006
This was the most haunting and affecting film I have ever been lucky enough to see. I wish I could forget it all and have the pleasure of re-discovering it. The atmosphere, acting and design were simply outstanding. It is a great work of art - not something I would ever have thought modern American cinema could produce.
Christopher, Oakland, California on January 14th, 2006
Avoiding and even preventing love like that exposed in this movie is not easy for many including some of us who have known its temptation and chosen to restrict its influence. The movie helps expose the contradictions in choices many of us make though few of us admit, irrespective of the gender.
stephen, london on January 13th, 2006
I can't get over just how excellent it was. I can't stop thinking about it and it was so sad that I actually couldn't cry. This film will haunt you, but in the best way possible.
Don, Edinburgh on January 13th, 2006
World class acting, stunning scenery, great story and has a depth to it few other movies have. I will go see it again soon. 10/10 and good to see some real gay/bi characters in an American movie. Jake and Heath are both amazing :)
Tony, Brighton on 13th Jan 2006 on January 13th, 2006
Simply outstanding. If ever there was a more beautiful, emotional and compelling film then I have yet to see it. Brokeback Mountain captures you from the start and sends you on a rollercoaster of emotions right til the very end.
Emma, Bolton on January 12th, 2006
Brokeback Mountain is quite simply the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. I went to see it because I've always thought Ang Lee was a sensational director (I believe that even more now!) and because of the stunning trailer, and it exceeded all my expectations. Heath Ledger's performance was something of a Hollywood revelation with Jake Gyllenhaal also taking my breath away. The story was fantastic and I definitely want to go and see it again! I would recommend this movie to anyone.
Charlie, Dublin on January 12th, 2006
Was a bit worried that Brokeback Mountain would not live up to my expectations but thankfully I was wrong. It surpassed them! One of the classic love stories. Worth the admission price for the first 50 mins alone. Acting all round is excellent but two main leads are outstanding and not just because they are straight actors playing gay. Their scenes together really pack an emotional wallop. Will definitely be seeing it again!
Daniel, Reading on January 12th, 2006
This film takes the breath away. In every way it lives up to the expectations that I had before I went to see it. As others have said it is haunting and will stay with you for a very long time. The adaptation of the short story is nothing short of marvellous, in fact I was surprised by how much the book is reflected in the film. This film is by far the most powerful and emotional film I have ever seen, and is compulosry viewing.
Keith Anthony, Nottingham on January 11th, 2006
Simply stunning film, one of the oddest things for me is that I'm still thinking about it days later, when most films are forgotten quickly. The mixture of emotions the film generates is astonishing. Great scenery too. Go See!

Simply the best film I have ever seen. The depth of story moved me and will live with me always.... I want this to win best picture at oscar time but think homophobic hollywood will disregard this beautiful movie.
