The portrayal of Bond as a person who does have flaws and weaknesses brings the character into reality more than ever. Craig's Bond is more believable and likeable than any other Bond before him.

This bond is so ugly that I can't bring myself to see the movie. Bond is supposed to be Cary Grant-esque. This pug-faced palooka would have been better cast in a movie about an aging boxer. I'm done with the bond franchise. To be fair though, I've been done with it since Moonraker.

Excellent bond film, one of the best!!!!
Cerise Thomas, Wrexham on January 15th, 2007
This film is excellent. I want to watch it again. I've already watched it about fifty times and Daniel Craig is so fit.

Bond is not ugly he is superb. The film was brillant.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard that it was 'really good' by a number of people. I was half way through my almost huge bag of popcorn before the feature began, but I was emotionally captured from the black and white beginning. I knew it was going to be like no other 'Bond movie' I had ever seen. No cute little 'oh, James' lines, or sarcastic glib remarks by James. Until tonight, I was sure that Sean Connery was the epitome of James Bond. My 58 year old heart belongs to Daniel Craig, he to a lick'n and kept on…! It seemed that late in the movie that there several spots where it could have ended in bliss, but yet another twist in the plot. Daniel's blue eyes are piercing and I liked his hair. Special effects did not look like models as just about all of 'Moonraker' did. Eva is my wife's middle name, so if I blurt it out at an awkward moment, I'll be covered. What a simple beauty she is. In the elevator when Vesper kissed his hand, I almost wept. What a shocking scene, it will haunt me in my sleep. Best Bond, best movie in years, did I mention Daniel's blue eyes. I was the only one to laugh out loud at Sir Richard Branson getting patted down by security, the original DB 4 and going back to the same hotel in the Bahamas as in 'Thunderball.' Gotta love the guy. Looking forward to "Bond 22" The best 'Bond' and the best 'Bond Movie' EVER.

I thought the movie was absolutely fantastic. As a big Bond fan it exceeded my expectations and I definitely think that Daniel Craig is the best Bond we have ever had.

'Casino Royale' is quite simply the most entertaining 2 & half hours in the cinema this year. Daniel Craig should be nominated for an OSCAR, or if nothing else a BAFTA. That’s if the movie snobs let him be nominated. Daniel Craig deserves this as he has now fleshed out the character of James Bond after the cartoonish performances from Roger Moore & Pierce Brosnan. Don’t get me wrong messers Moore & Brosnan gave us memorable & enjoyable moments over the years but it has to be said Daniel Craig has now made us take James Bond 007 a little more seriously from now on. All the performances from the lesser known actors & actress' are top drawer & the casting dept. should take a bow for bringing together this cast. Quite simply Casino Royale the best film of the year.

Possibly the best Bond ever - well done Daniel Craig - at last a real Bond. A must see film.
Monika, Connecticut on December 4th, 2006
I admit, I'm a Brosnan/Connery fan, but I tried to put all my reservations aside and really see Craig as a true Bond. But alas, I could not. He's way too old for the part and it's pretty sad I got him confused with Mr White (yeah, that 50 year old guy) at some parts of the movie. The film was real pretty good - But Craig just blew the movie off for me. Why fix something that hasn't been broken?!!

Daniel was brilliant in this film and is probably the only reason to watch the movie. The storyline is very very weak and the finale is as bad as my spelling. Looking forward to the next one though as things can only get betta!! Bond is back, nearly!

Good film, great performance...but too many false endings...the story finished 30 minutes before the film.

Excellent - especiallly "Bond" - loved every minute of it

It was fantastic. Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond and I loved it!!

I went to see Casino Royale last night, excellent MUST SEE movie, and this is a review from someone who is not a Bond fan. Incredible stunts, non-stop action & still that hint of original Bond. Craig's performance was impressive. Many spectacular fight scenes, kept you on the edge of your seat for the entire movie.

For me this was by far the best Bond film ever and I have seen them all (unfortunatley, in some cases). Daniel Craig is a superb, brave, piece of casting. It is too early to say that he is the best of the Bonds, although not to early to put him head and shoulders above those lesser performers - you know who you are... Another performance like this will undoubtedly have him up there with Mr. C. Two or three like this and we'll be wondering why there was ever any question as to who the best Bond is/was.

It was the best Bond film ever. 10 out of 10
Josh E, West Sussex on November 30th, 2006
Great film. The new Bond is superb and really fits the part well.

Gripping film right from the start.

I think Daniel is the sexiest bond we have had so far.The bond girls were a little wet and unbelievably ugly for bond girls. The story line was good and M was superb - good job Judy! It was actionpacked and I didnt look at my watch once. Great job!
Harry, ,Accy on November 29th, 2006
It was the worst movie in my life. James Bond these days aren't as good as Pierce Brosnan.
Robert, Brazil on November 29th, 2006
Daniel Craig is the best Bond forever. And Casino Roayale is the second best movie. Goldeneye is the best!

Martin Duggan, Glasgow on November 29th, 2006
Casino Royale is the best Bond Film in the last decade. It didn't need to rely on big explosions and beyond-a-joke gadgets (Die Another Day's Invisible Car comes to mind...) because of an inferior plot. The film had every ingredient necessary to become an instant classic within the franchise. Many did not agree with Daniel Craig's casting as Bond but after seeing him in Layer Cake 2 years ago, I felt that the edge he gives his characters would fit in well in the Bond Universe and I'm very happy to say I was right! His acting skills have helped give the Bond character a 3rd dimension that has been lacking for the past 20 Films. The storyline was well crafted and fits in with what is going on in the Modern World (Terrorism) and manages to stay reasonably true to the novel in most elements. Also, the young Bond still finding his feet as an agent made him seem more human whilst also filling in some blanks left by previous films. The theme song has recieved some notable criticsm but you need to remember that Die Another Day featured a god-awful Madonna track so Chris Cornell's "You know my Name" is a welcome release. I certainly recommend seeing this film because it gives an aging franchise new life whilst staying true to it at the same time. 5/5

Best Bond in years, superb debut from daniel craig, some very funny lines and some great scenes 4/5
Suzanne, York on November 29th, 2006
This was by far the best film I have seen in a long time. It was amazing, un-like any other Bond. Daniel Craig excelled, proving all those critics wrong and proving himself to be a great actor. He deserves the success this film has got. I absolutely loved this film, especially the tender bits which showed Bond to have a heart. I loved seeing him make mistakes and how he becomes the later man. I personally cannot wait for Bond 22 and 23.
Alan, Edinburgh on November 29th, 2006
I read that Sean Connery was in this movie in a small role but did not see him. It would have better if they brought in James Bond's son or daughter from a ex girlfriend as well.

Very good - all action from start to finish. Eva was stunning in film but looked a bit gaunt and thin in recent interviews

Just saw Daniel Craig in the James Bond movie earlier today. Very good movie, great camera shots & Daniel is a "hunk!" Very intense & oh, those blue eyes. I think that he makes a great James Bond---even better than Sean C or Pierce B, who were my famorite two actors who played Bond. Daniel really fits the part. What a superb body!

This film suffers because it tries to be two things in one: a 'Bond film' and a gritty action/thriller - unfortunately this results in it not doing either very well. Apart from a couple action set-pieces there is very little to get too excited about action-wise and Daniel Craig has to be the most uncharasmatic Bonds ever! He can't deliver a 'Bond comic quip' to save his Walther PPK! I am told by those who have read the original book (I have to confess I haven't) that the screenplay is a fairly faithful adaptation, if this is the case then you can see why it has never been made into a film before! I know it was the first one but Mr Fleming was obviously having an off day when he sat down at his typewriter to write this one! I have to applaud the producers/directors for trying to steer clear from ubiquitous cgi animation but the model shots sometimes looked very obviously like models and if they do try to have all the stunts done for real they could have at least tried to get a stuntman who looked remotely like Mr Craig - the action on the crane is a particular case in point! All that said, I am prepared to keep an open mind and hope that the Bond we saw at the end of the film (and I mean the very end not the several stuttering false finishes which were really very annoying) carries on through into the next film otherwise bring back Timothy Dalton - all is forgiven!!!

Fantastic. Gritty and exciting. I don't usually like Bond films, but this is worth seeing. Daniel is the best Bond so far and is not ugly. Hope to see more of him. Eva Green's accent was a bit dodgy though.

Excellent film! It is very character based and through the story and his experiences we see Bond developing from an ordinary agent (dare I say thug) into the more sophisticated emotionally detached person we've come to know in the other films. I realise many may be disappointed (especially with the ending) but I thought it was very cleverly thought out, including holding back on the Bond theme music until he becomes that character at the end. It leaves you wanting to see a lot more - roll on the next film!!
Mr. Roberts, Wales on November 26th, 2006
There were too many villians and you didn't know what the mission really was. Daniel Craig wasn't the best. I would say it's been a while since we've had a good Bond film.
Nat, Coventry on November 23rd, 2006
Absolutely fantastic! Daniel Craig was superb and boy was he to lust over! Definitely recommended to go and watch.
Carl Blair, Ellesmere Port UK on November 23rd, 2006
In my opinion this is the most realistic Bond to date. This is how Bond should have been portrayed in the beginning. Daniel Craig is brilliant and re-invents the Bond charcter in his own unique and original way. Overall the film was fantastic. A genuine plot, marvellously assembled and believable.

It's great, can't wait to see it again! Big shoes to fill and he did it very well.

I was glued, I am not normally a big Bond fan, but wow it was great! Daniel Craig is by far the best Bond ever. I would highly recommend this film to anyone!

This Bond has kahunas bigger than Texas, metaphorically speaking. Much more gritty, realistic, intense and sexy.
Simon , Leeds on November 18th, 2006
Casino Royale is very diffrent from Die Another Day as it does not come with the typical gadgets and Q. However, Daniel Craig is much edgier which is especially shown during a high stakes poker game. An absolute must see.

Lee, Coventry on November 18th, 2006
Bond is back, edgier and darker than ever. Daniel Craig seems to pull this off quite well but when the film ended I felt as if something was missing. I feel Pierce Brosnan & Sean Connery were much more suited to the Bond role and this film didn't actually appear to have a proper storyline. The film concentrated more on Bond as a character, as this is supposed to be based on his first mission when M first recruited him and gave him 00 status. Without giving too much of the plot away the film centres around a high stakes poker game at Casino Royale in Prague, which Bond must win in order to prevent Le Chiffre(The Bond Baddie) and banker to World Terrorists winning which would lead to catastrophic effects as a result. However what these effects are are anyone's guess!!! As we never actually find them out, despite the inital opening which makes you assume that all will be explained by the end of the film but never actually comes. Despite the excellent opening fight scenes set around a construction site rooftop, which give you a false sense of hope that this is the Best Bond Ever, there is little in the way of action and fight scenes throught the rest of the film and the ending is very poor. Nevertheless, all Bond fans it's still worth going to see. However, I feel the jury is still out on Daniel Craig and only time will tell if he was the right person to take over as Bond. 7/10

Bloody good film!!! Better than last two Brosnan's efforts. Craig was excellent! Hope he is doing another...
