I think this film is an all time classic...without a doubt the best film of the summer...!!!

Clearly the people who've given it low rating are taking the movie way too seriously and haven't watched or don't remember the original cartoon series, it's a great movie and way funnier then I was expecting.

I enjoyed it very much. Bad script? Bad film? Hey, I wasn't looking for "Citizen Kane", I was looking for an escape film with lots of action and great special effects. I found it. I was happy.

i just took my 8 year old to see this film and i have to say it's the besat piece of nonsense i've seen in a long time!...and thats not being critical of it. it keeps moving and is over in what feels like half the running time.although it took me half an hour to stop thinkin EVEN STEVEN????

A film based on a cartoon based on robots kicking the crap out of each other. That's what it said on the tin and thats what it did. The whole concept was obviously pretty dumb and a childish boys toys going on just by looking at the promo posters. So if you people who are slating it hate things like that so much, more fool you for buying the cinema ticket. If you want culture go to the theatre not a robot film. I loved it but I knew to leave my brain at home and just enjoy it. I think there are a few wanabbe film director critics on here. I give the film top marks for doing what it said it would do.

Transformers is a quality film, and bearing in mind that it has been adapted from a children's cartoon I’d say Michael Bay was spot on. What did you expect some kind of Shawshank Redemption?!

As action films go, this dragged on far too long, pointless dialogue and insipid humour continuously spoiled the tension build up. The action was jerky and seemed to be filmed in super-slow-mo, then played at high speed which left me extremely dissatisfied with what could have been a much better film. Definitely only one to watch when faced with the Nth repeat of something bad on TV.

I loved it! I didn't take as much notice as some of you have of the love story. Come on, it's Hollywood, you didn't really think they'd leave that bit out did you? I can assure you I have more than one brain cell and I think some of you take it too seriously. It's a film about alien robots afterall. I laughed so much and I loved the animation and effects...roll on 2 and 3, I say!!!

OK, there was a few mistakes made (megatron now turns into a jet! but he's been frozen since about 2000 BC, what jet did he see then, to be able to take its form?, Also scorpalok was shot by the jets but still buried itself in the sand and escaped, so how come next time you saw it, it was captured on dead on a plane?) But all in all the film passed, but only just, like previous comments, the action took too long to get to, then when it did happen, was almost too difficult to follow on screen, as the robots seemed to big to fit on screen and ended up being a jumbled mess. I'd like to see what they can do with the sequels, but feel a better director may be needed.

Come on, this film is fantastic.... bringing the childhood classic to the masses in a modern way with out bring overly camp or cheesy... Amazing effects and a story worthy of the original series. And the comments about only thick people liking this film, I suppose that is fair enough... I suppose the degree I hold, or my doctor friend who loved this film mustn't count for a lot.

Have got to agree. Easily, the best film so far this year! Was amazing!!

Transformers is everything you could want from a summer blockbuster cinematic experience: Action, adventure, explosions and a big dollop of American cheese all wrapped up in glorious surround sound! Forget the plot and go watch the most entertaining film this year without having to strain the brain!

I'm quite upset this review only gave it two stars - Transformers 2007 is now my favourite film, I'm set to see it a third time this week! The storyline was great, offering the right balance of humour and drama. I was delighted at the ways in which the transformers had been updated (apart from Optimus Prime having lips - what was that about?) The film felt new, while offering enough references to the old cartoons to keep old-skool fans happy. Admittedly the presence of Megan Fox was completely unneccesary, she seemed to be there simply as eye candy and contributed little to the plot emotionally or otherwise. Nevertheless I maintain that this film is definitely worth seeing. The breathtaking special effects were the icing on the cake. (And Linkin Park as a theme was an excellent choice!) Congratulations, Michael Bay.

I adored this film as an action movie and tribute to the cartoon. Don't understand why people slate this. It's the best movie Spielberg has been involved in since the 80s. I can't wait for the next one. Bravo Michael.
Michael, Gibraltar on July 31st, 2007
This movie is amazing, visually. Lot's of "meandering" too, but certainly not worthy of just 2 stars. I think, looking at your review, you were looking for something here you were never going to find.

Michael Bay ruined...NO destroyed X-Men 3, so being a Transformers fan I wasn't expecting anything at all from this movie, but I left the cinema completely stunned at how good it was. Michael Bay has redeemed himself. The action was amazing and the comedy moments were even better. Top marks, bring on the sequel (with Unicron hopefully).

In part I agree - in so much that the script wasn't perfect (but in today's cinema that is hardly a major criticism). I found that it didn't drag too much, and ignoring the obvious continuity error caused by poor script editiing - I felt it was a decent enough no brainer of a movie and much better than I had expected (which wasn't a great deal). The ending was rushed, and I felt that the arrival of Megatron and the ensuing battle was over far too quickly - it's almost like the story was bolted in to flesh it out - which is a shame. I enjoyed it because I didn't expect much, and I know people will enjoy it - but its not in my "Top 10" of the year list unless nothing else appears.

It's big, dumb and everything explodes. Best movie this summer so far.

Are you a young reporter by any chance? I gre up with Transformers and have recently watched and bought the box set of the entire generation 1. As for the movie, granted there were a few deviations from the cartoon series but none the less very good. 2 and a half stars, I think you got that wrong somehow.
Shylo - UK on July 31st, 2007
The movie is awesome! How can you only give it 2 stars? Your review is totally the wrong impression. The film kicks off great with the first transformer screen setting the tempo for an epic film. also by the sounds of the review, the guy was probably popped in for 15min went to the toilet for the next hour then popped back for the rest

Hey Melanie! I'm 40+ and thought this was by far one of the best 'entertaining' movies I've seen this year. And it gets the thumbs up from my 15-year-old daughter too; not an easy task.
Jim, North East on July 29th, 2007
As much as I loved seeing 'real' Transformers on screen, the movie overall was poor. Most of the Transformers barely got a line each and were massively underused, except of course for Hasbro's cash cow Optimus Prime. All the 'comedy' seemed forced and painful, especially Frenzy who will probably go down as the most annoying Transformer in history. A better title would have been "Michael Bay's Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox film: guest starring the Transformers". So dissapointing, not good enough. 3 Stars for the amazing effects work, 0 for anything else.
Noddy, Wakefield on July 29th, 2007
Fantastic film, loads of action and as a Transformers fan the movie did the originals justice. The one cell comments are harsh, this movie even entertained my friend who wasn't even going to go, he didn't really like Transformers but now he does. Fantastic film.
Kevin, London on July 29th, 2007
Great film and very funny surprisingly.
Melanie on July 29th, 2007
Considering that you're probably in your mid-30s, you're not supposed to like it. I think it's the best summer movie of the year, it is what it is through and through. It's better than Spider-Man 3 and POTC3.
Andrew Turner, Lincoln on July 29th, 2007
What a boring, insipid film. The first hour is OK, (as no-brainer summer blockbusters go) but by the end of it you just want to see the Transformers being thrown into the nearest recycling bin.
James Herts on July 29th, 2007
its the Simpson Vs Transformers Battle this weekend, but im gonna have to give it to Transformers. Great cars and a Really hot woman. oh and the action was great. five stars
Keith Glasgow on July 28th, 2007
Being a Transformers fan for many years, I felt that making a live version of this cult series would be impossible and a waste of money and energy, but I would like to say they got it just right and I can't wait for the other 2 movies. Well done to Michael Bay.
JC Swansea on July 28th, 2007
On a whole i would totally disagree with the above review, i thought it was very funny, great effects and overall enjoyable. What i would agree with is at time's the action a bit too fast to make out what is going on but that is a small fault. At the end of the day this film is based on a comic book and so story wise it's never going to be shakespeare.
AJ Liverpool on July 28th, 2007
I thought this movie was action packed but lacked a decent story.
Matt, manchester on July 28th, 2007
Could have been really good but sadly its a piece of crap - same old american-studio formula. The script is appalling, totally predictable, plus the camera moves around so much its impossible to tell whats happening. The only people who will enjoy this are those with a single brain cell.
skibaboo. York on July 28th, 2007
I have to completely agree with frasers comments. Transformers is the best film this year by far. Great action, AMAZING effects!! and a simple effective storyline. what are you on mr critic? Linkin Park at the end is brilliant too.
fraser on July 28th, 2007
I think its the best movie this year!, how can you give it two stars? And the soundtrack? the linkin park tune goes hand-in-hand with the mechanical nature of this movie. Go and see it!!
Zak, Manchester on July 25th, 2007
I agree, the movie itself is crap!
