Over $700 million made at the box office, says it all, Fantastic film, George Lucas is a genius. , Yea Chris Copp let look at the Star Wars films, six of the highest griossing films in cinema history now he's the done the same with the Indy franchise. Please don't make such stupid comments on things you obviously know nothing about.

YES this is another great adventure from Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford is simple the greatest hero and leading man of the past 30 years and this movie cements that even at his age of 65, he still runs, jumps and punches with the same energy as the past three movies and he's joined by a new rising star in Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams who has some great action scenes as well and let me tell you the action is top notch and it’s classic action with break neck set piece after set piece. The plot is classic Indy with the mystery of the Crystal Skull but with a new twist that some may like and others won’t but the simple fact is they don't make movies like this anymore so go see it in the cinema while you can because it will be the greatest adventure you will go on this year.

Improbable plot aside, what really ruined the film was the awful dialogue! No charm, no humour. Felt like I could have been watching any of the new Star Wars films. George, what has happened to you?

Within three minutes of the film opening I turned to my husband and said - "this is cr@p already". It never got better. Tired, flat, with a clunky story about a crystal skull that looked like plastic with tin foil stuck in it. A waste of two hours of my life.
JMEASEY - GUILDFORD on June 22nd, 2008
simple review - worst film i have ever seen in my life.

CAN INDY REALLY SURVIVE AN A-BOMB? sure the fridge was led based I think the impact should have killed him. Shia Lebouf makes a connection with monkies, that help him defeat the bad guys. Also Stupid. But still it was a good movie. I love Ford's cute lil' smile. It drives me wild and I ain't even gay.

There were some scenes which made me think of the bad moments in the 2nd installment, "Temple Of Doom"--But I do agree with the last part of the review--once it entered the home stretch, the story really picked up and hooked me for the ride.
Chris Copp on June 17th, 2008
The cold dead hand of George Lucas has wrenched any 'life' that was in this movie...he is a terrible script writer, bad director ... just look at the Star Wars movies, one good, one so-so and the rest were dire....he does not seem to have a clue as to what we want to see...Spielberg and him are now too old and too rich...they have lost touch with us 'bums on seats' brigade...they are pseudo intellectuals of the worse kind...'slumming' it for the proles!

Admiral, London on June 16th, 2008
Oh come on! 5 stars from some of you? The man survives a nuclear weapon going off by sitting in a fridge for God's sake. From the moment such a horrific thing was trivialised in that way I just wanted to walk out of the cinema. Strangely enough I liked the aliens part of the plot. I felt that was the right path to go down. The rest was just the same pointless drivel and trivialising I've come to expect from Lucas and Speilberg. I wish the Russians had managed to get this banned and done us all a favour!
Raye in CA on June 16th, 2008
Worst movie ever!! Seriously, aliens??? What a terrible, god-awful, horrific bastardization of something that was pretty great before.
Richard - Harrogate on June 15th, 2008
Far fetched, too modern and no depth. Being a big fan of the Indy series i was very disappointed with this latest instalment. Shia LeBeouf was pretty awful as Indy's son it was all very wooden, contrived and he was surplus to the script IMHO. The annoying arguments with Indy's wife spoiled the second part. It all seemed so rushed and all to modern for my liking. The end summed it all up for me. I thought Harrison Ford was excellent and am pleased that he kept his grey hair! Funnily enough with all the unbelievable action he did actually seem plausible even at his age! Please don't try it again and leave the series alone. What ever you do please don't cast Shia LeBeouf as the new Indy.
Chris, East London on June 11th, 2008
The film was okay. I think the script let it down- I've seen action films with far less of a pedigree than this flick with sharper dialogue. Must say the film really did make me want to see a big-ass, live action Tarzan film.

ELEANOR COPELAND -CAMBRIDGE on June 5th, 2008
I THGOUGHT INDIANA JONES FILM WAS EXCELLENT. I THOUGHT HARRISON FORD WAS JUST THE SAME AS HE WAS IN THE FIRST FILM. AND FIT AND WAS JUST THE SAME. SHI LA BOOTH WAS SEXY WITB THE BLONDE HAIR AND I LIKE THE FATHER/SON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HERRY JONES JUNIOR AND MUTT WILLIAMS. AND THE ONGOING OFFGOING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HERRY JONES JUIOR AND MARRIAN. I LIKE IT WHEN THEY GOT MARRIED TO EACH OTHER IN THE END OF THE FILM. I LIKE RAY WINSTONE CHARCTER THOUGHT HE WAS A GOOD BADIE. CATE BACHET WAS LIKE A ADOLT HITTER CHARCTER SHE WAS EXCELLLENT. I THOUGHT THE FILM IS A GOOD ADVENTURE STORY AND THE FILM I HAVE EVER SEEEN IN MY LIFE MUCH BETTER THAN THE LORD OF THE RINGS OR HARRY POTTER . I WOULD RECCOMEND IT TO PEOPLE OR CHILD WOULD TO SEE THE FILM AGAIN

I honestly think that bringing Indian Jones back on to the screen is the best idea in a very long time and should have happened years ago. I have seen the film and believe that Harrison Ford has still got what it takes and I enjoyed every minute of it. Just hope that isnt the end of Indian Jones. Just a shame they killed Sean Connery off as it would have been nice to see three generations of the Jones family!

I'm surprised to find myself saying that this film was very, very good! Full of twists and turns, and genuinely funny! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. What I will say is that I found it slightly long and drawn out, but other than that, I have nothing else to add!
Sophie birmingham on May 31st, 2008
A bit different from others it was like a triple episode of doctor who with the alien but i understnd why the plot was mixed as i didnt really understand but it was be easy if they followed the plot thoughout and made it like raiders and the temple. overall good film.

I absolutely love all Indiana Jones films....apart from this one. I was very disappointed that it took a historic meets futuristic approach, which was what Indie was never about! I wasn't completely sure at the end which film ending I was watching (it was like all George Lucas & Steven Spielberg films all rolled into one). The film was too overcrowded, some people could have been left out i.e. Ray Winstone and half of the soviets - who all seemed to get killed and then spring back up again. I hope they're not thinking of replacing Indie with Mutt, they didn't have the same energy as Harrison Ford and Sean Connery together in the last crusade. The last disappointing thing was that he doesn't refer to himself as Indiana, and the music was only fully played at the end!

An a fan of the older films and partial to a bit of archaeology myself, I had to leave the cinema early. I have tried to blank out the fact I ever saw this film - it turns Indiana Jones into a joke!

Vic, Newcastle on May 29th, 2008
Saw this last weekend. Firstly - I leftmy archaeology brain at the door and went in thinking 'B Movie' and chanted the mantra through the whole film to allow me to go with the flow (unlike I did with king Arthur where i almost left). Now, I am not saying the film is baaaaaaad (i have seen some reallllly bad stuff), but knowing what i do about the current state of the Crystal Skulls which have been excavated and those found to be fake I expected more from the film rather han having a seemly Xenomorph looking skull and X-Files grey men. I know Lucas wanted Indy to deal with Aliens ok, I get that - it is classic B movie afterall, but I just found the filme split in 2, which is a shame, plus iirc the starting segment didn't usually directly relate to the film you tended to have a random adventure. It was nice to see Karen Allen back (after seeing her last starring in Ripper on the PC), and Shia LeBouf is ok but as usual the film suffers from 'star wars' syndrome and did any one else want to hit ray winstone who said the same line about 5 times? cate Blanchett - did the best she could, but hardly a Rosa Klebb - its Cold War KGB they should have had a bullish ugly unscrupulous character rather like they did with the German portrayals in the earlier films. Overall not brilliant, but not appaling either, I'd still stick with the first 3 though, and if they DO make a 5th one it better be more archaeology than Scient Fiction.

Tim, Huddersfield on May 27th, 2008
I'm sorry but I thought it was great. Admittedly, the ending is a bit strange, but up to the end it's classic Indiana Jones. It's funny, lively and Shia LeBeouf is great, just like in 'Transformers'.
Connor London on May 27th, 2008
I grew up with Indianna Jones and was expecting a poor later sequel like Rambo 4 or Rocky but after seeing the 4th installation i had to say it was brilliant. it had all the right doses of action love scenes story plot. i do think think indy 4 had no heart twinging moments like o the previous like when indys father told him to let it it go but apart from that i enjoyed every minute of it a 5 star for me :)
Tania ,Midlands on May 26th, 2008
After viewing this film on saturday i believe it to be fantastic and incredible that so many years later a follow on film can be produced so well and in so much detail. Indy is portrayed like he was back in the 80's however with a couple more grey hairs! This film is a definate must see and i can't wait for it to come out on DVD.
Bristol on May 26th, 2008
This was probably the biggest disappointments of a movie that I have ever experienced. I mean come on, aliens?? Indiana Jones used to be about sacred relics not UFOs. And come on, swinging around trees with monkeys, and huge ants plus a lack of humor that the early movies were known for made this movie the worst movie I have seen all year... ridiculous... as if Lucas didnt get enough of the science fiction when he ruined Star Wars...
Brandon - America on May 26th, 2008
Acting was great, but the story sucked bad. As soon as aliens are involved you know Lucas had his hands too deep in the story. If it wasn't for the story this would be a great movie.

Luke Cumbria on May 26th, 2008
For the love of God, it is simply a film. I am a huge fan of Indiana Jones and I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter. For people who refer to 'Indy world' just get a grip will you. The film is meant as a piece of escapism, it is a pop corn movie. The first 3 were the same, I hate how people say this film is rubbish, it is intended to be entertaining. The film is aimed at people of all ages, Star Wars had a similar problem with the new trilogy. People went there expecting to see the second coming, but they forgot that these films entertained them because they were kids and now they expect the films to be aimed at a higher audience-why should they? I though the cinematography was outstanding and the stunt work amazing. It will be interesting to see if there will be a special edition DVD because some areas of the film could go into more depth. The film paid great homage to it's source and personally I doubt that anyone can say that when that music hit and the whip cracked they didn't want to be Indiana Jones again. Roll on the adventures of Mutt
Luke from Perth on May 26th, 2008
I walked away confused and feeling a little ripped off. The stunts are great, the effects are great, the acting is great, ('cept for Blanchett, I cringed at all her lines). The plot belongs in another movie. Lucas can be quoted in the making of the movies doco on the DVD collection, he wanted to do the opposite of Star Wars. He should have stuck to that. I didn't want to experience Indiana Jones and the Close Encounters of the Third Kind :(

Just saw Indy IV - loved it. I was expecting to be disappointed but was not. The signs were good at the cinema when queueing up the people from the previous screening were all leaving with broad grins. As I left the cinema everyone around me was saying how much they enjoyed it. Indy's back!
Harpreet, Bedford on May 25th, 2008
I grew up with Indy and i was so happy when they released this one, i saw it last night and i absolutley loved it!! i will so go see it again, Harrison Ford is still looking good!!
Joel Griffiths devon on May 25th, 2008
To be honest I thought the film was going to be cxxp, I thought it was class. and everyone is moaning about the alien bit at the end, havent you forgotten that he's an archeologist. the whole point of it is you never know what your going to find. it didn't seem out of place to me.
Michelle - Cinci OH on May 25th, 2008
After waiting 19 years, I think if it had been 2 hours of Harrison Ford standing there, I would have been thrilled - but I really did enjoy it - there was some 'weirdness' toward the end, but it was easily overlooked - I would actually give it a 4+
Tim Nottingham on May 25th, 2008
I was so disappointed with this movie. WHY ALIENS?!?
Kieran on May 25th, 2008
It was a damn good film. Just watch it for what it is, anybody who rates it low has their expectations too high.
Patrick, Oxford on May 24th, 2008
Went to the cinema to see an Indiana Jones film. Saw a great Indiana Jones film. What? I'm not the sort of person to criticise a Bond film because so-and-so isn't as good as Connery, or the villain was a bit 1-dimensional, or the love-interest was a bit forced, or the basic plot was a bit preposterous. That is, I'm not an idiot. I got what I expected.
Baz, Cambridge on May 24th, 2008
Aliens, UFOs? What was Speilberg thinking? That just doesn't fit into the Indy world. They might as well have put JaJa Binks in there. And what's with the light flaring and completely pointless scenes (what was the point of Nuclear explosion?). The brilliant action scenes do not save this film. I conclude that Speilberg has lost the plot completely
Dave, England. on May 24th, 2008
Just got back from seeing Skull and.......................................loved it! Don't take heed of the doom merchants, pay your money, get your popcorn, sit back and savour it. Worth the wait.
Lee, England on May 24th, 2008
People really need to open there mind and realise this is just a film, is was never meant to change cinima as we know it, just a good old fashioned movie and it is, all the waterfalls and stuff, its just movie magic, it works well and is as good as doom and crusade, although raiders is still the best. Please guys just enjoy don't read to deep, there will be 2 more and remember adventure has a name and that name is indiana jones! I love'd it!

James Huff Phoenix Az. on May 24th, 2008
I think people forget what Lucas and Speilberg were doing here. Most of you in your Teens or Twenties don't realize that Lucas was totally going for a B Move Chapter Serial feeling with the series. Specifically the most popular types from the 30's and 40's, which were the action adventure thriller type full of stuff about egypt, Indian spiritualism complete with zombies, asian locals, volumous jungles, and paranormal spooky stuff.... and more. Each Indy movie stayed true to this vision. Notice how each action sequence could have actually been a chapter ending cliffhanger leaving you wondering, "Wow how is he gonna get out of that one?" And since the first 3 movies took place in the 30's and 40's that are the movies Speilberg and Lucas were honoring. NOW since they had to realistically advance the timeline 20 years due to Fords advance in age that put the setting in the 50's. So no WWII and no Nazis. The only logical choice The Russians and the Cold War. See it would be to hard to explain how last time Indy fought the Nazis he was about 45 and if he fought them this time he had aged to 65? Ummmmm no. The Sci/Fi angle came in for about the same reason. Which was Lucas and Speilber keeping true to their vision of the most popular B Movies during the Timeline the movie is set in. In the 30's and 40's it was those Action, Adventure, Thriller B Movie Chapter Serials. In the 50's it became the Science Fiction B Movies that were all the rage. If keeping all that in mind you may understand that it had to change a bit for Speilbergs and Lucas's original reason for the movies in the first place.

This movie ROCKS :D I enjoyed every second of it, even the first half "history lesson". It was hilarious :) I luv ya Indy, no matter how old you get!
Kathryn, south Wales on May 23rd, 2008
I agree with the reviewer and think that Lucas' story was quite poor - aliens and Indiana jones do not form an easy bond. i still loved it though and I think the film might have been improved if Blanchett was actually a Nazi not a Russian agent
Jon, Nottingham on May 23rd, 2008
Best film ever! Don't know what Mal from Co.Durham watched, but it wasn't this film. It was highly enjoyable and very entertaining! its a film, its meant to be a bit unrealistic!! You don't watch Sci Fi movies and moan that spaceships don't exist do you!? Its a film!!! Enjoy the ride! Its escapeism and very enjoyable!
