Aaron Ashmore has been cast in horror thriller The Thaw, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The Smallville actor will play a college student who is part of an Arctic research team that is attacked by a parasite at the polar ice caps.
Mark A. Lewis will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Michael Lewis. Mary Anne Waterhouse, Trent Carlson and Rob Neilson will serve as producers.
Ashmore has also appeared on Veronica Mars and The West Wing. He is the twin brother of X-Men star Shawn Ashmore.
The Thaw begins shooting in Vancouver next week.
