Kasdan to pen Maguire's 'Robotech'

Lawrence Kasdan will pen the script for the movie adaptation of anime series Robotech, according to Chud.

The four-time Oscar nominee will reportedly take over writing duties on the Warner Bros blockbuster from Craig Zahler.

A prolific writer in the '80s, Kasdan worked on the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi and Raiders Of The Lost Ark. He also wrote and directed Body Heat and The Accidental Tourist.

Tobey Maguire will produce and star in Robotech, which revolves around several "mecha" pilots who use giant robotic machine to defend Earth from aliens.
