Bad Lieutenant, which is being helmed by Werner Herzog, is an updated version of Harvey Keitel's 1992 cop movie.
However, Herzog has denied that the movie is a simple remake, telling Hollywood Elsewhere: "It is not a remake. It is a completely different story in the same sense as the last James Bond is not a remake of the previous one."
The movie begins shooting later this summer.
