Wiseman to direct 'Gears Of War'

Len Wiseman is attached to helm a big screen adaptation of video game Gears Of War.

The director, whose previous credits include Die Hard 4.0 and Underworld, will begin work on the New Line production next year.

The film will revolve around an elite Delta Squad charged with saving the planet Sera from the vicious Locust Horde. Chris Morgan (Wanted, The Fast And The Furious 4) is currently working on the screenplay.

Chris Bleszinski, the design director of the original Epic game, said he is hopeful that it will translate well to the big screen.

Reuters quotes him as saying: "Disney made a great movie out of a theme park ride, and somebody is sooner or later going to make a great one out of a video game. Having someone like Len really helps the odds. I think we're going to create something special here."
