Rex Features

Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno will land in cinemas on May 19, 2009, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Universal film, Cohen's follow-up to Borat, will face competition from Sony's Da Vinci Code prequel Angels & Demons.

Based on a character from Cohen's Da Ali G Show, Bruno revolves around a camp Austrian TV presenter who provokes unwitting members of the fashion industry into making ill-advised statements.

Borat proved a commercial success for Cohen on its 2006 release, grossing $260
million at the worldwide box office.
