MGM Home Entertainment and distributor 20th Century Fox are preparing to release six James Bond films on Blu-ray format, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The set, scheduled for release on October 20, includes the first two films in the series - 1962's Dr. No and 1963's From Russia With Love.

The most recent franchise entry Casino Royale debuted on the high-definition format in March 2007 and is one of the highest-selling Blu-ray discs.

MGM's Eric Doctorow said: "With Quantum Of Solace on the horizon, Bond fever is building once again, and there is no better time to reintroduce these beloved films... to the more than 60 million HD-capable households worldwide."

Along with the first two Sean Connery films, Thunderball, Live And Let Die, For Your Eyes Only and Pierce Brosnan's final outing Die Another Day will be released this autumn.

The 22nd James Bond film Quantum Of Solace will hit cinemas on October 31.
