Universal has picked up Jeff Lowell's spec script The Family Bond, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story revolves around a girl who discovers that her father is a secret agent in the mould of James Bond. Together they set off on an adventure to rescue her missing mother.

Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will act as producers on the film.

Lowell is the writer/director behind this year's Over Her Dead Body. He has also scripted episodes of Spin City and The Drew Carey Show.

Platt's latest film, the violent action movie Wanted, is released in the UK on June 27.
