The BBC film revolves around legendary football manager Brian Clough's turbulent 44-day spell in charge of Leeds United.
Graham will play Leeds captain Billy Bremner, who leads a dressing room mutiny against the outspoken Clough (Michael Sheen). Compston and McDonald have been cast as players Johnny Giles and John O'Hare.
Jim Broadbent, Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney, Maurice Roeves, Brian McCardie and Liz Carling are also among the cast.
Tom Hooper is directing the film from a script by Peter Morgan.
