Created by Eric Powell in 1999, The Goon focuses on a man who claims to be a mob enforcer. The use of ghosts, zombies and mad scientists give the stories a supernatural and comedic slant.
Powell will write the film's script with Fincher overseeing the project as producer. Blur Studios, Oscar-nominated for its short Gopher Broke, will handle animation duties.
The project will be developed by Dark Horse Entertainment before being pitched to studios.
Fincher also has graphic novel adaptations in the works for The Killer, Black Hole and Torso.
