The Columbia Pictures thriller stars Denzel Washington as a security chief who attempts to stop a criminal mastermind (John Travolta) hijacking a New York subway train.
Rodriguez will take the role of a friend of Washington who finds himself caught up in the hijacking.
The actor is also attached to play Shia LaBeouf’s college roommate in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen after Jonah Hill reportedly rejected the role.
Taking Of Pelham 123, directed by Tony Scott, is scheduled for release in July 2009.
