Oldman: 'Stone has lost his edge'

Rex Features

Gary Oldman has criticised filmmaker Oliver Stone, saying that the director has "lost his edge".

In an interview with Total Film, Oldman hit back at Stone for claiming that he doesn't take on challenging roles anymore.

"Oliver Stone thinks I've lost my edge," Oldman said. "Yeah. But then I've looked at the last couple of things he's done and I could perhaps say the same thing to him."

Oldman previously appeared as Lee Harvey Oswald in Stone's 1991 drama JFK.

The actor also admitted that he'd never take on the role of a Bond villain, noting that "once you do it, you're sort of at an end of a line".
