Terry Gilliam has accused movie bosses of using Heath Ledger's death to promote new Batman movie The Dark Knight.

Gilliam, who directed the late actor's last film The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus, said speculation that he will win a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker is simply a publicity stunt.

He is quoted as saying: "That's what Warner Brothers are saying, but they'll do anything to publicise their film. That's just what they do and you can't get upset because it's bulls**t.

"They're like a great white shark which devours whatever it can."
