A musical remake of 1983 romantic comedy Valley Girl is in the pipeline.
MGM has started work on a new version of the movie, which starred Deborah Foreman as a sweet but shallow valley girl who hooks up with Hollywood punk Randy (Nicolas Cage).
The film featured a New Wave soundtrack including acts such as Modern English, Josie Cotton, the Plimsouls and the Psychedelic Furs.
Sean Bailey (Gone Baby Gone) will produce the remake from an idea he developed with Ideology partner Matt Smith, who will act as executive producer.
The musical will focus on the "Romeo and Juliet" story of the original film and include classic songs from the 1980s, reports Variety.
