One in four picked the Michael Caine film in a questionnaire of more than 3,000 visitors to the Pearl & Dean cinema website.
The Blues Brothers, which features a huge pile-up finale, was placed second with 16%, while The Bourne Identity - another film using Minis - came a close third with 15%. The Gotham City car chase from Batman Begins was also placed highly.
"You can see why these film car chases topped the polls,” said Pearl & Dean chief executive Kathryn Jacob. "Many of them don't use massive amounts of special effects, which makes the chase more impressive.
"Featuring Minis rather than flashier cars appeals to the public because it injects a touch of British cool to the chase and adds cult status to the film."
