'Dark Knight' sets US first day record
Published Sunday, Jul 20 2008, 18:28 BST | By Dave West

The movie made $66.4 million (£33.2 million) on its opening day, topping the previous high of $59.8 million (£29.9 million) set by Spider-Man 3, Warner Brothers said.
Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner, predicted that the film will go on to break the $151.1 million (£75.5 million) record for an opening weekend.
"I don't see any reason why we are going to slow down," he said.
Fellman credited the success to director Christopher Nolan and the performance of Heath Ledger, who died before the film was completed, as The Joker.
