The Weinstein Company confirmed last week that it is making a fourth movie in the horror franchise.
Kennedy told iFMagazine that movie buff Randy could return in the new film, despite having been killed off in the previous instalment.
He said: "I actually had a conversation with somebody very big in the organisation, and there’s a way.
"I don’t know what’s going to happen, but they have plans for a lot of things. You can see new faces that you wouldn’t expect and you can see old faces that you wouldn’t believe. There’s a way to bring a lot of things around."
Talking about the possible involvement of previous director Wes Craven, he said: "[That's] the only way they're going to do it."
