Will Smith is Hollywood's top earner

Will Smith's $80 million (£40 million) salary from the past year has made him Hollywood's top earner.

In Forbes's Highest Paid Actors list, the star came in first place with Pirates Of The Caribbean's Johnny Depp landing in second with $72 million.

This year, Smith also broke a box office record after Hancock became his eighth consecutive film to cross the $100 million mark in the US.

Comics Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, along with Leonardo DiCaprio, completed the top five. The rest of the top ten is comprised of Bruce Willis, Ben Stiller, Nicolas Cage, Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler.

Collectively, Hollywood's leading men generated $487 million in earnings compared with a figure of $244.5 million for women.

The highest-ranked leading ladies in the list were Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz.
