Sarah Jayne Dunn was overwhelmed when she was offered a small part in The Dark Knight, she has revealed.

The actress worked on the blockbuster movie while she was taking a break from her role as Mandy Richardson in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

"It's a wonderful break in a plum role for me," Sarah told Take 5 magazine. "After I auditioned for the part I didn't hear back for a couple of months and was beginning to think I hadn't got it. Then the news came through that it was between me and one other girl. When I finally got the part I was thrilled."

Asked about lead actor Christian Bale, she added: "I think he is the best Batman that's ever been - and he's so fit. I was starstruck by the whole experience - it was absolutely brilliant."

Sarah has now returned to Hollyoaks under a new six-month contract. She has refused to confirm whether she will stick with the soap beyond that.
