The Office star B.J. Novak is lined up for a role in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards.

Novak, who plays Ryan in the NBC comedy, is currently in talks to appear in the World War II drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He is expected to play the role of PFC Utivic, a New York soldier of slight build.

The actor's previous big screen credits include Reign Over Me and Knocked Up.

Director Eli Roth signed up for the project earlier this week, while Brad Pitt is rumoured for the lead role.

Shooting is expected to begin in Europe in the autumn.
