MGM picks up action comedy 'Wardogs'

Screenwriters Ken Kaufman and David Agosto have sold their action comedy pitch Wardogs to MGM, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Several studios were circling the project, but MGM moved quickest to pick it up for $1 million.

The studio has attached Get Smart helmer Peter Segal to direct the movie. He will also act as producer along with Michael Ewing and Andrew Lazar.

Story details are being kept under wraps, but Lazar revealed that the film will feature a big-name ensemble cast.

He said: "It's an action ensemble comedy in the vein of Ocean's Eleven, where the casting becomes an event."

Ewing added: "It is a bunch of these terrific actors getting together and having a good time‚ it's that kind of thing."
