Twentieth Century Fox has dropped its robot action movie Voltron: Defender Of The Universe, reports Variety.
Relativity Media is in talks with Fox production company New Regency to pick up the project. Should it secure the rights, the film will be revived on a scaled-down budget and shot using greenscreen techniques similar to those in 300.
Voltron is based on an animated Japanese series from the '80s. Interest in the property was sparked following the box office success of Transformers last summer.
Justin Marks has written the script for the movie, with Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow) and Jordan Wynn attached as producers.
