Warner Bros sues over 'Hari Puttar' movie
Published Monday, Aug 25 2008, 10:49 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly

The movie giant will argue that Puttar infringes on the copyright of the Harry Potter film series when the case is heard at the Bombay High Court today.
Hari Puttar, produced by Mirchi Movies, centres around a 10-year-old Indian boy who moves to the UK. It is currently scheduled to be released on September 12.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed: "We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled Hari Puttar.
"Warner Bros. values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation."
Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii said: "Since the case is sub-judice, we can't comment as of now. However, we registered the Hari Puttar title in 2005, and it's unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film's release. In my opinion, I don't think our title has any similarity or links with Harry Potter."
