Hilary Swank has bought the movie rights to Emily Giffin's debut novel Something Borrowed and its sequel.

The 2005 book revolves around a Manhattan lawyer who begins an affair with her best friend's fiancé after turning 30.

Swank and producing partner Molly Smith will develop the project through their 2S Films shingle, with the Oscar winner possibly taking the lead role.

Sequel Something Blue tells the same story from the point of view of the best friend.
