Aaron Sorkin has announced plans to make a film about the creation of social networking site Facebook.
The West Wing scribe said on his Facebook page: "I've just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented. I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I've started this page."
The site was founded by Harvard University student Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. It is valued at $16 billion and has more than 100 million active users worldwide.
Sorkin's previous credits include the films A Few Good Men, The American President and Charlie Wilson's War, as well as the TV shows Sports Night and Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.
