Pirates Of The Caribbean pair Johnny Depp and Gore Verbinski will reunite for Paramount's animated film Rango.

The project, which was announced in February, revolves around a household pet (voiced by Depp) who embarks on an adventure of self-discovery.

Verbinski will direct from a script by John Logan, with The Departed's Graham King serving as producer.

Speaking to Variety about Rango, Verbinski explained the groundbreaking animation technology that the film will utilise.

"[It] will allow us to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny's performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature," he said.
