The actor, who picked up an Academy Award for Capote, told MTV at the Toronto Film Festival that he has not been approached about the role.
Hoffman described the the rumour as "funny" and claimed that it has been in the press for five years.
He added that he has no interest in taking on a part in a superhero movie, saying: "I'm more a fan, so the interest of being in it isn't that great. It’s more the interest in wanting to see the next one. It's probably better that way."
