Postigo scripting 'Operation Checkmate'

Jessica Postiga is to script Operation Checkmate, a drama based around the recent rescue of 15 hostages in South America.

Ingrid Betancourt, a former Colombian presidential candidate, was among the prisoners freed by undercover forces in July. Soldiers tricked the captors, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), into thinking they were moving the hostages to another hideout.

The final 22 minutes of the film will unfold in real time.

Simon Brand will helm Operation Checkmate.
