Kidman cast in 'Eighth Wonder'

Nicole Kidman has signed up to star in and produce The Eighth Wonder for 20th Century Fox, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The action adventure film revolves around an archaeological dig that sets in motion a race across the globe. Fox is hoping that the film will be a character-driven alternative to the Indiana Jones series and spawn a franchise.

Simon Kinberg (Jumper) originated the idea and will pen the screenplay later this year.

Kidman and Kinberg have been looking to collaborate on a film since working together on Mr & Mrs Smith. Kidman later dropped out of Smith and was replaced by Angelina Jolie.
