Gil Kenan and Robert Zemeckis, who worked together on the Oscar-nominated Monster House, will reunite for Airman, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Director Kenan will utilise the latest performance-capture technology to bring Eoin Colfer's children's adventure book to the screen.
The story is based around Conor Broekhart, a man with a passion for flying who sees his family and tutor murdered. After escaping from prison, he ponders whether or not to overthrow the government that betrayed him.
Zemeckis, the director of Back To The Future, Forrest Gump and Beowulf, will produce the film with Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey.
