The actress, who played Carrie Bradshaw in the film as well as the hit HBO series, told Us Magazine that she will soon sit down with writer Michael Patrick King in order to discuss a second movie based on the franchise.
Released in May, the first movie took more than £211 million worldwide and Parker commented that those involved with the project have been "lucky" to achieve such success.
"It's all about the story. If we can't tell a story that's really worthy of an audience, then we won't do it. We've been in people's good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously. So that's the biggest challenge - the story," she said.
Sex And The City creator Candace Bushnell this week announced plans for two novels based on Carrie Bradshaw's high school years.
The Carrie Diaries is to be published in 2010.
