'High Fidelity' writer to pen 'Scoundrels'

High Fidelity screenwriter Steve Pink is to pen a remake of comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

The 1988 movie starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin and was itself based on Bedtime Stories, featuring Marlon Brando and David Niven.

Pink commented that writing the remake will be a tough job as it will have to be bigger and better than the source material.

"The cons have to be sophisticated but you also want their behaviour to be totally outrageous and absurd. So I'm trying to find the balance between keeping it massively funny, but then also make the cons credible," he said.
