Bill Murray has hinted that he may star in a new Ghostbusters movie.

The actor, who has previously expressed his reluctance to return for a further instalment in the franchise, said he would be willing to put on a proton pack for Ghostbusters 3.

"I think the wounds from Ghostbusters 2 have healed," he told reporters at US film festival Fantastic Fest.

The 58-year-old said he approves of Columbia Pictures's hiring of Office duo Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg to pen the script, saying: "That could work, that's a good idea to get a fresh look at it."

He added that he enjoyed recording dialogue for the upcoming Ghostbusters video game.

"It was fun to do it again," he said. "I found myself walking down Fifth Avenue singing the song (Ray Parker Jr.'s 'Ghostbusters'). People were like, 'That guy's really full of himself!'"
