Megan Fox signs up for mermaid role

Megan Fox has signed for the lead role in a movie adaptation of Michael Turner's comic Fathom, reports the Daily Star.

The Transformers actress will reportedly play the role of Aspen, a mermaid rescued from the sea as a child.

The character only learns that she is from an underwater species when she wins a race and displays an unusual response to a drug test.

An insider said: "Several writers have been brought aboard to revamp the script as a vehicle for Megan, who officially signed on for the project this week."

Fox's new film How To Lose Friends And Alienate People is released in cinemas on October 3.
