Oscar bosses deny Gervais rumour

Organisers of next year's Academy Awards have denied that they have offered the presenter's role to Ricky Gervais.

It was reported earlier this week that the Office star is being lined up to host the ceremony in 2009.

However, co-producer Larry Mark told E! Online that organisers have not yet decided who will be presenting the awards programme.

He said: "We haven't made one single phone call. There has been no reaching out."

"We haven't gotten that far yet. We're just not there yet," added Academy president Sid Ganis.
