The Dirty Pretty Things musician, who stars as Gene Vincent in upcoming Joe Meek biopic Telstar, told the Sunday Mail that he will also play a scientist in a new British film.
He said: "I have something coming up. It's a very different direction (to Telstar) - a part you really would not expect me to play which makes it very exciting. It's weird but cool."
Former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins also appears in Telstar, while Kevin Spacey plays Meek's financial supporter Major Banks.
The movie premieres at the BFI London Film Festival next month.
