'Green Lantern' given go-ahead
Movie bosses have given the go-ahead to a movie based on superhero The Green Lantern.

According to producer Donald De Line, executives have received a script they are happy with and shooting will begin next year for a 2009 or 2010 release.

He told FirstShowing.net: "A new draft of the script came in... [We’re] gearing up to start shooting early spring."

Several characters have taken on the Green Lantern mantle in the DC Comics universe, including Hal Jordan, Alan Scott and Guy Gardner.

Each possesses a power ring which allows the hero great control over the physical world.
