'Chihuahua' snags US box office lead

Disney family comedy Beverly Hills Chihuahua has topped the US box office in its first weekend on release.

The talking dog movie, which features the voices of Drew Barrymore, George Lopez and Andy Garcia, made $29 million over its debut weekend.

Last week's number one Eagle Eye slips to second spot, while comedy Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist pulls in $12 million to enter the chart at number three.

Viggo Mortensen western Appaloosa expanded its release and leaps from number 37 to number five in the chart.

New releases An American Carol and Religulous enter the chart at numbers nine and ten respectively.
