Along with a screen test for Neeson's upcoming movie in Los Angeles, several TV executives are lining up a US version of Tate's hit BBC sketch show.
A source is quoted as saying: "The film sounds exciting as it stars Liam Neeson.
"The US sketch show has also been mooted - it is very early days, but everyone loves Catherine. Her show has been on BBC America and a lot of important people are fans."
Tate is expected to reprise her role as The Doctor's assistant Donna in one of the four upcoming Doctor Who specials.
