Ortega hopes to remake 'Footloose'

Kenny Ortega has been invited to "re-imagine" Footloose for Paramount.

The High School Musical director told Newsbeat: "There's some genuine enthusiasm coming from the Paramount side."

The 58-year-old said that Zac Efron is likely to star in the film, adding that he would be "perfect" for the role.

Efron said: "I'll always be open to more musicals. I think they're fun and I think it's our responsibility as performers to try and keep them alive. I love Footloose - it's a great movie."

Kevin Bacon starred in the original 1984 musical, which also featured Sarah Jessica Parker.

"It looks like there's a real good chance that this may be a movie that we're going to do next year," Ortega added.
