Josh Brolin has closed a deal to play comic book anti-hero Jonah Hex, according to Hollywood Elsewhere.

Created by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga, the DC Comics character is an American Civil War veteran with scars covering the right side of his face.

Crank duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor wrote and will direct Jonah Hex for Warner Bros.

Brolin can next be seen playing George Bush in Oliver Stone's biopic W, which arrives in UK cinemas on November 7.
