The film originated as a book by Jon Ronson, with the title refering to the telepathic ability to kill farmyard animals with just a thought.
Stephen Lang also joins a cast that includes Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges as intelligence officers.
Grant Heslov is directing from a script by Peter Straughan.
