It was reported last year that Witherspoon was unhappy with her co-star's work ethic and insisted on scrapping a sex scene with him.
However, during an interview with Vogue, the Oscar winner described Vaughn as the "funniest person" she has ever worked with.
"There were days when we were shooting things, I would laugh so hard it would ruin the take," she said.
"I was afraid I was going to pee on myself, it was so funny."
Speaking about the appeal of the festive comedy, she added: "You don't see the blended family Christmas very much [in movies], and it really is a complication in a lot of people's lives now.
"I didn't grow up like that. I mean, my parents are still married, and my grandparents stayed married, but it's a situation my own children will have to deal with."
